Collect This! is a six‑part zine series on ephemeral art and the politics of value.
Issue 1, “Concrete Dunks – Scarcity as Structure,” unpacks a 2004 intervention in which ten Nike Dunk replicas were cast in concrete and quietly planted outside elite sneaker shops from Los Angeles to Berlin. No press, no signature, no sale — just raw weight and a date embedded in each pair. For twelve months the artist stayed silent while forums, travelers, and blogs stitched together the legend. When the full documentation finally surfaced, the concrete shoes were already relics in a networked myth the internet had priced for free. Through images, theory, and “Field Notes” this issue shows how denial, context, and rumor can out‑perform any marketing budget — and invites readers to test those mechanics themselves.
